Uncompassionate Ayurclinic

Postby carmen on Tue Jan 19, 2010 7:42 am

I would like to make a complaint about the Ayurclinic (in Melbourne), in particular the owner and practioner Dr. Sajimon George.

I am a fair person; I treat everyone with respect and expect the same in return. I went to this clinic as I was extremely stressed due to the demands of my job. The stress was effecting my digestion, energy levels and ability to cope with day to day activities. After the first consult I was very optimistic, hoping that this would help me. I understood that it would take a while to return to normal but was willing to try. I was given a strict diet and medication for 1 month. I told Dr George that I could not afford the all of the 7 head massages that he recommended. But he assured me that with diet and medication, it would take longer but I would get results. The medication and first consult came to ~$240, one massage treatment $180. I had to cancel my second head massage because of work commitments; he did not suggest a follow up appointment for the next month. When the medication was almost finished I made another appointment. I told him that work was too stressful and that I had to quit because my health was deteriorating further. And the treatment was not helping. And I was now developing a rash that got worse with stress. He said that there was no improvement because I did not want to do the head massages. There was only one mistake that I made, and that was to take a teaspoon of a particular medication instead of a tablespoon because I misread his writing and on the printout he gave me, it just said one spoon. This he said was also a reason for no improvement in my condition. He gave me more medication that with the consult came to almost $200 this time he made a follow up appointment. When I made a query about the cost he said ‘oh you can just claim it from your private health insurance’, when I told him I didn’t have any he just brushed it off.

I have been on the treatment for 2 months now and have seen not even a small improvement. I called him today to ask him whether he thought I should continue because I am not seeing any difference. First he blamed it on me not doing the head massages. When I pointed out that he said I could be healed with diet and medication, he said it was because I was not taking the medication properly. I asked if that was the case, what about the second month. He then blamed it on my attitude. Saying that I expected a magical cure and saying that he should not be reminding me about follow up treatments. I reminded him that I have been dedicated, followed the diet, took the medication, scraped the cash to get some of the treatments and he did not give me another appointment or tell me to make one. And it’s not over night it’s been two months, there should be at least a small improvement. So I said if that is the case that I will come back for the proper full treatment when I have a job and can afford it again. To that he replied, “That is the problem, you are more worried about the cost that is why the treatment is not working”. He then recommended still coming in for consults (and paying for that) although not staying on medication because he "can’t give me that for free....So I said there is no point arguing with you so I wont be coming back and I am sorry for wasting your time with this call, because after 15minutes he remembered that he had a patient in his office.

No one should be treated like his. I went to him for help but all he was worried about was the money not my well being, he was not compassionate at any point. I think the above speaks for itself. I just wanted to make other people aware. This is not always the first option because of the cost involved and this would often be the last hope. This was my experience and I can only hope that no one else has to go through this.
